Last Saturday, our C III juniors from Ahrweiler BC played against Grafschafter JSG in Vettelhoven – on the 2nd matchday of the Kreisklasse. After a strong start to the season with a 5:3 victory against JSG Ahrtal Insul, the boys under the coaching team Goran Strk and Alexander Blauhut, along with team manager Yvonne Blauhut, wanted to pick up points in their second game as well. But in the end, it was 1:1 (0:1) – a fair result in a hard-fought match.
From the start, the team from the district town showed why they were successful on the first matchday with a home win against JSG Ahrtal Insul. They dominated the first half and created several good chances. In the 28th minute, the time finally came: Leon Alvaro (photo) was able to score the deserved 1-0 after a beautiful combination on the right side and a pass from Louie Koonen! ⚽️🔥
But despite the lead, further goals did not materialize. Especially in the second half, the hosts, in scorching summer temperatures, increasingly found their rhythm and pushed for an equalizer. Goalkeeper Finn Pohl, with strong saves, kept our team in the game for a long time, but was powerless in the 41st minute when the Grafschafter deservedly scored to make it 1-1.
The coaching team drew a sober conclusion at the end:
"We had control in the first half, but didn't take our chances. It became more difficult for us after the break. The draw is ultimately a fair result." - Goran Strk
Next week, it continues: The C III juniors will play against JSG Hohe Eifel Herresbach this weekend. The game will be played in Adenau. 🔥💪
