++LATER 2:1 VICTORY AGAINST TRIER-TARFORST++

KREISSTADT – With a 2-1 (1-1) home win against FSV Trier-Tarforst on Saturday evening, the A-Juniors of ABC increased their points tally in the second half of the season to 13. Simon Jüngling scored the decisive goal in stoppage time.

After a 30-meter solo run, Simon Jüngling scored the decisive winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time, securing a 2-1 victory for the ABC youth team in a match that offered three acts for spectators and team members alike.

The first half encompassed the kick-off, which started in sunshine, up to the halftime whistle, which took place in pouring rain. Both teams were determined to push for an offensive game. The eleven players coached by ABC managers Jörn and David Kreuzberg, as well as Sawwas Panagiotidis, had a plus in both quantity and quality of chances but had to be content with a meager 1:1 at halftime. Max Blohm scored to make it 1:0 (4') after good groundwork by Simon Jüngling. The visitors from the Mosel equalized to make it 1:1 (42') from close range 42 minutes in, shortly before halftime. Jannik Fussel had the best chance to score another goal, but his 16-meter shot hit the crossbar of the visitors after a quarter of an hour.

The second period saw the visiting team playing superiorly after the restart, but like the junior ABC players before them, they were careless with their chances and also hit the aluminum frame of keeper Felix Hürter once, among other things.

In the third act, the final phase of the match, the "Doppelstädter" managed to compete on equal footing again and create offensive actions themselves. Maik Schäfer (79') initially failed for his team with a shot that hit the post, before Simon Jüngling began his solo run that became the game-deciding play. This was preceded by an unnecessary turnover by Trier-Tarforst and a good pass from Altin Kuqi to the goal scorer, who delivered an outstanding performance in the offense and was the game-defining player for his team. The debut of B-youth player Muris Susa, who was substituted in the 73rd minute, was also pleasing; he left a very positive impression with a good and courageous performance.

Actually, a typical 1:1 game, which would have also reflected the course of the game. A goal in the final minute always involves a healthy dose of luck. Less luck, and more of a confirmation of a great season performance overall, is the current fifth place in the standings. The next match will also take place in Bad Neuenahr. On the grass of the Apollinaris Stadium next Saturday, it's against the current third-placed team, JSG Altenkirchen.

However, a highlight still awaits the team on Tuesday evening on the artificial turf field. In the quarterfinals of the Rheinlandpokal, the A-Juniors of Ahrweiler BC will face Regionalliga team Sportfreunde Eisbachtal and hope to once again prove that the cup has its own rules. The boys around head coach Jörn Kreuzberg would be very happy about numerous supporters in the stands.
