Early Tuesday evening, the U11 team of Ahrweiler BC was challenged in the second round of the district cup against SVE Mendig. An exciting match with many goals on both sides developed right from the start. Eris Zogaj put his team in the lead after just one minute. Shortly thereafter, an own goal by the hosts increased the score to 0:2. However, Mendig didn't give up and quickly pulled one back. Younes El Bayyari made it 1:3 in the 14th minute, before Mendig scored again to narrow the gap. Eris Zogaj scored again before halftime to make it 2:4.
After switching sides, Mendig rallied and equalized to 4-4 by the 41st minute. However, the ABC showed better nerves in a hectic final phase: Shayan Aslani scored in the 46th minute, and shortly thereafter, Levin Franke sealed the deal with the 4-6.
Coach Sarah Preußner summarized: "We were shaky at the back and didn't show our best football. But a win is a win – and the kids were very happy about the success."
