Ahrweiler BC concluded their summer preparation on Thursday evening with a 3-3 (1-0) draw against Bezirksliga newcomers SV Lövenich/Widdersdorf. In their final test before the league opener, the Rheinlandliga team fielded only 14 players and showed an inconsistent performance.
After a mediocre first half, in which ABC was not able to build on the convincing performances of previous weeks in terms of play. The second half developed into a goal-rich encounter. Nam-Ju Lee (2 goals) and Markus Pazurek scored for the Rhineland League team. Lövenich was successful overall after two set pieces and was able to equalize ABC's lead twice. The goal sequence: 1:0, 1:1, 1:2, 2:2, 2:3, 3:3.
ABC coach Mike Wunderlich did not want to attach too much importance to the result: "We had a very good preparation. From Monday, our full focus will be on the first league match in Wissen."
The test revealed minor deficits in coordination and defensive vulnerability on set pieces – aspects that could be quickly punished in league play. However, the big picture remains intact: preparations are complete, the goal clearly defined. ABC looks ahead – with confidence, a clear vision, and the knowledge that every game counts from now on.
