With a solid performance, the U23 secured their place in the play-off for third place at the BMW Automobile Baum Cup preliminary round in Leimersdorf. In the evening's first match, the team coached by Ricardo Ribeiro deservedly prevailed with a 1-0 victory against league rivals SGL Heimersheim. The goal of the day was scored by Adlin Dervishi (symbol photo) after a fine assist from Chadi Atwi.
In the second game, the team faced the SV Niederbachem, a team one class higher in the Mittelrhein District League. Despite valiant efforts, the U23 team conceded 1-3. Max Bluhm scored the equalizer in both matches. Both games lasted over 45 minutes.
Thanks to their second place in the preliminary group, the U23 team now faces the Grafschafter SG team on Thursday evening at 18:30 for the third place match.
Head coach Ricardo Ribeiro was not dissatisfied despite the defeat in the second game: “It was clear that the team had made a step forward.”
