++F-JUNIORS: FUN AND LESSONS LEARNED AT THE OBI CUP IN PESCH++

Gaining experience, having fun, and ideally playing well – that was the plan for the F-Juniors of Ahrweiler BC, who competed last Sunday at the big OBI Cup in Cologne-Pesch. (24 teams played 68 games to determine the tournament winner).

From a sporting perspective, things didn’t go quite as planned. After the group stage, the team was eliminated early, finishing fifth in a group of six. But the disappointment among the young ABC players—who, after all, managed to win one of their preliminary round matches—was kept in check. The “Boys in Red” were proud to have competed alongside such notable opponents at this tournament. “Overall, it was okay; the boys had fun, learned a lot, and were already highly motivated on the ride home looking ahead to the next games and tournaments,” said F-Junior coach Darijo Matosevic, who had to do without one or two of his team’s “rockets” due to illness.

Our thanks go to the organizer FC Pesch, who made a great tournament weekend possible for both active and passive guests.
