KEEPER HOLDS ON, BUT TRIER WINS NARROWLY: U13 LOSES TO EINTRACHT 0-1

Well roared, but no points in the end: In the D-juniors' Rheinlandliga duel, Ahrweiler BC had to accept a 0-1 defeat against Eintracht Trier. The host team, Eintracht, showed from the start why they are among the strongest offensive teams in the league. In the first half, they controlled the game, but our boys fought back with passion. Goalkeeper Kian Backenecker (symbolic photo) particularly shone with several top saves – thanks to him, the teams went into halftime with a 0-0 score.

After changing ends, Trier stepped up their game. The decisive goal came in the 37th minute: a cross into the penalty area and the subsequent shot left even Backenecker no chance. ABC bravely fought back afterwards and created a few good opportunities. However, the Trier defense remained ice-cold, and the necessary bit of luck was missing in the end to force an equalizer.

With this loss, the team led by Julian Hilberath, Bella Angelova, and Björn Glasner slips to 11th place in the standings—nine points away from safety. Meanwhile, Eintracht Trier solidifies its sixth-place position with the win. For Ahrweiler BC, the focus now is on keeping our heads up and staying fully focused on the next game. On Saturday (1 p.m.), we’ll host SSV Heimbach-Weis (8th place) at our home court in Bad Neuenahr. We need three points to stay in the mix. Let’s do this! 💪 #NurDerABC
