Last Wednesday evening, viewers witnessed a real thriller in prime time: In the quarter-finals of the D-Youth Cup, the D-Youth (U10) team, younger than their age group, and TuS Koblenz II, two top-ranked second teams, faced off – a worthy cup fight that lived up to its name.
The regular playing time offered everything a football fan could desire: thrilling tackles, technically strong combinations, near misses, and a goal on both sides. Both teams engaged in a neck-and-neck duel that found no winner in regular playing time. Pure excitement – from the first minute to the last.
The decision in this nail-biting quarter-final only came in a penalty shootout. In the end, Koblenz had the luckier outcome. With a 7:8 victory, they kept their cool, had an alliance with the woodwork which had still favored the boys in red during regular time, and secured their place in the final round.
