On matchday 5 of the district league, Ahrweiler BC's U14 team made a statement. With a 7-2 (3-1) victory, the protégés of Julian Hilberath and Björn Glasner celebrated a commanding success against SG Mülheim-Kärlich II.
The start was picture-perfect: Already in the 2nd minute, Elijah Eguavoen gave them a 1-0 lead after an assist from Luca Schneider. Shortly thereafter, Schneider himself added to it (13th minute), before Eguavoen extended the lead to 3-0 (22nd minute) from a cross by Benjamin Faltin. Although Mülheim scored from a penalty kick to make it 3-1 before halftime, the young ABC players showed ruthlessness even after the break, despite the deficit being reduced to 3-2 shortly after halftime.
With a hat-trick within ten minutes, Schneider definitively set the course for victory (6:2). The final punctuation was added by Kian Kaiser with a long-range shot for the 7:2. Mülheim remained dangerous until the end, but was thwarted twice by the woodwork.
Thanks to the well-deserved win, the ABC youth team jumps to second place – and now confidently heads into the top match against league leaders JSG Vulkaneifel Ettringen.
