Last week, the Ahrweiler BC U11 team was in action twice, experiencing both highs and lows.
On Tuesday evening, we played away against JSG Nickenich. The start was anything but fortunate – after two quick goals conceded, we were trailing early on. However, the team showed spirit, fought their way back immediately, and took control. With great passing combinations and dangerous set pieces, ABC turned the game around and ultimately celebrated a deserved 7-3 victory. Especially pleasing: the corner kicks practiced in training led to success multiple times. The goals were scored by Eris Zogaj (3), Marten Matar, Younes El Bayyari, Felix Doktor, and an own goal by the hosts. In the second half, the coaches took the opportunity to test different positions.
Two days later, the away game against JSG Remagen was scheduled. For a long time, it looked like the second win of the week, as Zogaj and El Bayyari scored again to make it 2-0. However, concentration waned in the final minutes, and Remagen managed to equalize. The match thus ended 2-2, which felt like a missed opportunity for ABC.
In the end, the U11 team collected four points in this English week. The quality of play is undisputed – now it's important to consistently deliver that performance throughout the entire game.
