Development is good, but maintaining the class structure remains a challenge
The hope was great, but the disappointment after the final whistle was even greater. Last night, the U13 team of the Ahrweiler BC lost a deciding game that could have secured the relegation from the Rheinlandliga. On neutral ground in Bad Breisig, the game was about ending the season as the best-ranked team on a relegation spot and achieving league survival via a relegation play-off. But Mülheim-Kärlich turned out to be the clearly better team in this decisive match and won by a clear 5-0 (1-0). Shortly before halftime, it seemed to the team of ABC coach Julian Hilberath, Björn Glasner and Bella Angelova that everything was still possible, but shortly after the restart, Mülheim scored three quick goals to make a decisive early decision.
At the end of the season, at first glance, only one thing remains clear: the team did not manage to achieve the desired promotion. But on closer inspection, it quickly becomes clear that the team's development nevertheless provides reason for a positive conclusion regarding the previous season. After the first round, the team was in 15th place in the table with 5 points. However, in the second round, the ABC youth team earned another 13 points and ranked sixth in the standings after points. This gives hope for the upcoming season, when the majority of the squad will compete in the C-Junior District League as a U14 team.

No happy ending for captain Lasse Claesgens and the U13 team. However, the progress made in the second half of the season bodes well for the upcoming season.
