++U23 LIVES! SIX POINTS FROM TWO GAMES SPARK HOPES++

After a rocky start to the 2025 football year, the U23 team has sent a clear signal of life. The team coached by Filip Dickebohm and Kourosch Hosseini celebrated two important victories on matchdays 26 and 27 of the Bezirksliga.

Already during the week, a 2-1 (1-0) victory was achieved in the home derby against SV Oberzissen. The Rheinlandliga reserve also benefited from the support of the first team: Maximilian Fichtl put the team in the lead in the 29th minute. In the 76th minute, Jonas Adams increased the lead to 2-0 – a kind of decision. The connecting goal by Aron Seiwert (88th) came too late for the guests from Brohltal.

On the following Saturday, the U23 team upped the ante: They secured a convincing 5-2 (2-2) victory against FC Metternich. The home team didn't look good at first. The visitors from Metternich were dominant in the early stages and took an early 0-2 lead through goals from Jannik Seitz (16') and Luca Hankammer (24').

But the U23 team was not deterred: Aron Seck (symbolic photo) reduced the deficit to 1-2 in the 36th minute. Shortly before halftime, Daniel Somuah – after a cross from Mahdi Husseini – equalized. Directly after the restart, Somuah struck again: after a long throw-in from Finn Götte, the former Regionalliga goal-getter scored the 3-2.

The key scene of the match occurred around the 60th minute: Metternich missed an unchallenged shot to equalize, and in the ensuing play, Seck increased the lead to 4-2 – after a cross from Teodor Slavov. Seck could have even scored his third goal, but only hit the post. The current leading scorer of the A-Junioren-Rheinlandliga, Max Isgaem, converted the rebound to the final 5-2 score (76th minute). A deserved victory, as confirmed by Hosseini.

Despite the continued precarious league situation – the team is in second-to-last place – the team is drawing new courage. The upcoming matchday features TuS Rheinböllen, who are already confirmed to be at the bottom of the league. The upward trend is intended to continue there.
