Ahrweiler BC is continuing to systematically push forward with squad planning for the upcoming Rheinlandliga season. With central defender Nicholas Caspar, the club is securing an experienced and strong defensive player who will wear the red-and-white jersey starting in the summer. The 33-year-old is transferring from state league club TuS Oberpleis to the Ahr valley.
Caspar brings extensive experience from the Landesliga and Mittelrheinliga. The right-footed player has made over 150 competitive appearances for TuS Oberpleis, SV Wachtberg, and his youth club FC BW Friesdorf. In the past season, he played in 28 league matches – always as a strong, steadfast presence in the defense.
Caspar received his footballing education in the youth academy of FC BW Friesdorf. There, he laid the foundations for his excellent positional play and his qualities in build-up play at an early age.
Sports director Jonny Susa, who had already tried to bring Caspar to Ahrweiler several times, is therefore satisfied with the successful signing:
I've tried to get Nico to Ahrweiler several times, so I'm all the more pleased that the transfer has finally come about. He brings quality, experience, and composure that will benefit our central defense. Additionally, he's a true competitor with leadership qualities.
Susa also provides an insight into the current squad planning: "We are in the final phase of our transfer activities. We are only looking for a strong left-back."
Caspar himself is also looking forward to his new role at ABC:
I am happy that the transfer worked out. I am looking forward to the stadium, the team, and the club environment. I am convinced that we can achieve a lot together.
The Ahrweiler BC says a warm welcome to Nico at the Apollinaris Stadium!
