Transfer coup for the U19! Jonas Görres, 17 years young, a tenacious keeper with a secure future – returns to Ahrweiler BC. After two years at TuS Koblenz, where he won the Rheinlandliga championship with the U16s and the Rheinlandpokal with the U17s, Jonas will once again be wearing his beloved club's jersey starting next season.
"Jonas is one of us," says youth coach Gerd Treffer. "We're proud that he wants to take the next step with us again."
No stranger to the Ahr: Jonas already went through all youth teams of Ahrweiler BC from U12 to U15 and was part of the legendary U15 championship team that achieved history in 2023 – the first Rheinland championship in the club's history.
The ambitious goalkeeper learned the basics of football at SV Dernau before guarding the goal for ABC. Now he returns with even more experience, even more ambition – and a clear plan: "ABC has a goal, a structure – and I want to be part of this journey. I know the club, the people, the atmosphere. I want to develop further here," says Jonas himself. "I also had offers from the Regionalliga and could have stayed at TuS – but I consciously chose ABC."
A strong backup with ambitions, who – like last year's U19 keeper Philip Schmidgen – will participate in first-team training.
Although he was gone, he was never completely gone: "I always stayed in touch – with my old assistant coach Karl-Heinz Classen and I often met up with my old boys from the U15 to play soccer."
Strengths? Quite a few: Jonas is convincing on the line, in one-on-ones, and as an active goalkeeper who participates in the play. "I get fully involved in the game – and want to get better every day."
The big goal? "With fun, team spirit, and hard work – step by step towards the Regionalliga."
Welcome back, Jonas – the ABC is looking forward to many parades, lots of power – and a successful future together.
