“What can we personally do for the club, aside from our roles as decision-makers on the board?” This was the question posed by the eight volunteer board members of Ahrweiler BC in light of the decision by players, coaches, staff, and referees to forgo their expense reimbursements due to the coronavirus pandemic. After a conference call and lively email correspondence, it was agreed to reinstate the order—which had already been canceled due to the current uncertain situation—for four Funino small-field goals for the ABC Juniors, valued at 1,200 euros, and to personally cover the cost. In addition, the Bambinis—who will be moving up to the F-Juniors this summer—received a small soccer coloring book with tips, a quiz, and short soccer stories, as well as some candy from Haribo, as part of the training kickoff last Saturday.
ABC President Torsten Schweigert stated: "We were very impressed by the willingness of our members to make sacrifices for the good of the club, so it was a no-brainer for us as the board to personally support Ahrweiler BC as well."
